Arizona Research Labs – Resignation Process and Notification Guidelines
When you get ready to do your official resignation notice (letter, email, etc.), you typically would address it to your supervisor and include the following:
- Last date of employment
- Reason
- Forwarding address (if applicable, for future university communication)
Please arrange to send a copy of the notice to the ARL Business Office as soon as possible, preferably as soon as you know the effective date, but no later than a few days before your effective date. This will allow time for preparation of termination documentation. You will also need to complete your final time record a few days before your effective date. This will help ensure your final paycheck is accurate and let UA Payroll know what, if any, unused vacation needs to be paid.
If you do have a known new home address, you can go into UAccess Employee > Employee Self Service > Personal Information and update that address on or before your last day of employment.
If you are a benefits-eligible employee, you will be paid for any unused vacation up to the amount you earn in one year. You will also receive a notice of the option to continue group insurance per COBRA guidelines.
Finally, you will also need to arrange for the return of your keys and any other university property through appropriate personnel. Please do this by your last date of employment. Let David Shropshire (621-2715) know if you have any questions.
